You find yourselves at the bottom of the deepest seas. The saltwater burns your lungs, reddens your eyes, and crushes your body. But you don't mind. You feel the constant grasp of invisible hands pulling you deeper, deeper, deeper... Before you stands a grand cathedral with a coliseum, its ground stained with the remains of those who came before. This is a fight for survival above all else, your final chance to avoid true oblivion.
When the entire party dies (TPK), this can be used instead of completely rewriting the story/events or having to write up new characters. A challenging fight will be given, scaled to the tier of the party.
The party will find themselves in an underwater city, in borderline ruin and abandon. This area is called The Depths. There are other adventurers like you down here, terrified of the encounter above. The center of the city holds a lift that leads to an enclosed arena, barely large enough for two people at opposite walls to be at Very Far range.
After the party arrives at the arena, they will be given enough time to set up any effects and positioning they feel necessary. Once everyone is ready, the adversaries will manifest in the middle. Should the party die while in The Depths, their souls will be dragged down the many layers of hell so quickly, they will be completely destroyed. If the party succeeds this fight, they will be given a second chance and take a long rest, waking up in the last area they took a long rest.
As for running, please throw one (set) of the adversaries per player. To keep up pressure and tension, there is a suggestion per tier, as seen below. Feel free to switch around the adversaries, their tier, and others.
For "frequent fliers", send another wave of the below adversaries for each time the party visits The Depths after the first.
For Tier 1, I recommend the Patchwork Zombie Hulk.
